VCB Family Weeks

Our weekly residential sessions at our campus in Rockland County, New York, introduce children who are blind or visually impaired (and their families) to vision rehabilitation through the joy of recreation!

Our multilingual team of certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapists (CVRTs) and Orientation & Mobility Specialists (COMSs) as well as Teachers for the Visually Impaired (TVIs) host a variety of engaging activities for children and educational sessions and support groups for their families. Each week is tailored to a specific age group to better focus on the children’s individual needs. Activities for the whole family include meals, open swim in our adaptive pool, and plenty of fun evening activities.

Bright Horizons

Children up to 5 years old enjoy sensory-based, educational activities designed by our TVIs to show parents just how bright their futures can be.

Children 6-10 years old are introduced to independent living skills through adaptive games and activities designed by our CVRTs. This helps children learn that these skills can also be fun.

Step By Step

Children ages 6-21 with Multiple Disabilities including CVI learn about vision rehabilitation therapy through accessible recreational activities, sensory-based exploration, and sessions in our adaptive swimming pool. Exploring and celebrating each child’s abilities, step by step, can make all the difference in their development!

Teens and Tweens

Children ages 10-13 explore future careers and develop team-building skills through engaging pre-vocational activities, activities of daily living that are essential for work readiness, and a special collaborative small business project that incorporates the skills learned during the week
